My Immortal

Wilson doesn't show up at work. He is in bed with his eyes open, tears falling from them. He is still holding the note. His expression is blank. He gets up calmly, goes into the bathroom, and bashes his head into the mirror. It breaks, and his head bleeds. He passes out.

Meanwhile, House is working on some sort of case involving cancer. House is depressed. He can't visit Wilson because of guilt. Cuddy tries to comfort him. He refers the patient to some oncologist.

Wilson wakes up and still has a blank look on his face, despite congealed blood on his forehead. He goes out and checks his mail. He has inherited the fortune that Amber's parents left her. He cries again and looks to the sky. Blackout.

House is trying to figure out a case, but the symptoms keep changing. They show symptoms similar to radiation poisoning. In the end lots of tiny tumors and holes appear throughout the patient's body and brain. Cuddy strongly recommends some time off. House almost overdoses on pills (sloppily trying to commit suicide) at home and goes into a coma for a few months. The autopsy shows that the patient had an as of yet undiscovered non-contagious viral infection contracted from a contaminated ice core sample from antarctica. News is spread.

In the dead of night, Wilson steals the body, uses a helicopter to fly it to his secret laboratory in Sasketchuan and makes a culture of the virus in a culture of his own cells. Using super-advanced microscopes and micro-manipulation technology, he discovers that the virus is actually a virus in symbiosis with a prion and decodes the proteins and RNA. People check up to see if Wilson is okay, but the house is empty.

When House awakens from his coma, it is discovered that his mind has blocked all memories of Wilson and Amber. Despite this, Cuddy accepts him back onto the staff of the hospital. Having been forced to work without House, the diagnostics team has matured a bit, but are faced with a case that they can't figure out. House saves the day and finds the cure in the nick of time.

Some time soon, a french-speaking patient is brought in exhibiting similar symptoms to those seen in the virus-prion patient, and a concussion. After a day, the nurse who admitted him begins showing the same symptoms. The two are quarantined, but many others have been in contact with them. House is not infected, as he has made no contact with either, but Taub and Hadley are worried that they may be infected and are put in separate quarantines. Kutner loves Hadley. Taub starts showing symptoms, but Hadley doesn't and is released.

House, Kutner, Foreman, Hadley, Cuddy and the staff don hazard suits and try to find the source of the disease before it becomes a pandemic. The team figure out where the french-speaking guy lives and the phone the place to see if the disease has been discovered there too. It isn't, and the find that suspicious.

Researchers find out the the virus infecting the frenchman et al. is the same as the previous one, but subtly different. The government researchers begin to become infected. After researching the frenchman, the team finds it suspicious that he hasn't had anything to do with Antarctican ice-cores. House recieves a letter in the mail with no return adress, but it is from Wilson. House still does not know who he is, but finds the name familiar. The message says "You killed both Amber and I with your misery. You will die from an overdose of the one thing you thought you couldn't." or something like that. He doesn't tell anyone. He tries experimental treatments and is aided by other governments and his own, but people keep dying.

Taub dies at some point. House reveals the letter and the team knows that Wilson must have gone insane. They research the area that the frenchman lived in and various places Wilson could be hiding. The area is abandoned, most populations of healthy people having quarantined themselves. They find some clues in a few houses, and go to the nearest health center thing to interrogate those whose houses clues were found in. The clues turn out to be worthless.

Upon another search they find a homeless man who they think has been on drugs. They figure out that the syringe mark things on his arm are actually not from heroin or something, but from having been a guinea pig in Wilson's experiments. They get the man to lead them in the general direction of the laboratory, but he dies on the way. He rips Hadley's suit in a fit of rage or something. Kutner takes the hat part off of his contamination suit when he helps her up, as a romantic gesture. House yells. Cuddy is wistful.

Foreman leads the rest of the way by following clues. They discover the laboratory, and there search tells them that Wilson manipulated the virus-prion to make it more contagious, and conducted various tests on people before he kidnapped the frenchman, and gave him the virus-prion inside of several layers of slowly digestable materials. They find a suicide note saying that after he infected the frenchman, he infected himself and went out into the forest. The team is pensieve, and House has an epiphany.

They go back to New Jersey, and they go to Wilson's house. They open a panel in the floor under the bed and find a refrigerated room where Wilson is asleep, having taken sleeping pills. House uses a drug to wake him up and looks him in the eyes. He starts to say "Everybody lies," but is remembers Everything about Wilson and Amber in a flash. His eyes tear up, and he says "Everybody lies." in completion. He explains about Wilson having made a vaccine because of self-preservation and deduces where the secret cupboard containing the vaccine is.

Flash forward. They've turned in Wilson, and produced enough vaccine to prevent any further infection, and with an explanation of the vaccine (It is a weakened strain of the virus half of the virus-prion and a bacterium which feeds on the prion), they've weakened Kutner, Hadley, and other surviving infected peoples' infections to the point where if they've got strong enough bodies, they can survive it. Wilson is executed, but house and Cuddy enter a relationship. The End.
